INTERLUDE EDITIONS:
Providing Opportunities for Artists to Create Their Best Work
Artists working in the book form often lack the space, equipment, creative resources and dedicated time that they need to create their work. For these artists, creating an edition (multiple handcrafted copies) of their work is a particular challenge, yet editioning their work is one of the best ways for book artists to introduce their work more broadly to the community.

Interlude Editions is a non-profit organization operated and funded separately from BookWorks. BookWorks is proud to support Interlude Editions by providing a home for the organization and use of BookWorks space and equipment. For complete information on Interlude Editions, please visit their website.
INTERLUDE EDITIONS (IE) was established in 2007 to address this pressing need by providing three-month residencies to artists working in the field of book arts who wish to create limited editions of artists’ books and fine art prints for education, exhibition and distribution. During the length of the residency, IE provides the artist:
  • Dedicated studio space at Asheville BookWorks
  • Full use of the extensive range of equipment and tools available at BookWorks
  • Ongoing consultation and potential collaboration with BookWorks studio artists
  • A modest stipend to cover the cost of materials and related expenses during the three-month period of the residency
  • Studio Artist status at BookWorks

To raise awareness and address the interest of the book arts in the Western North Carolina community, IE resident artists will be invited to offer demonstrations, exhibit their work and/or participate in studio tours for the general public.
