BookWorks is a community resource for print and book arts located in West Asheville, North Carolina. Through classes, exhibits, lectures, and annual events like BookOpolis and Edible Book Festival, BookWorks has become a gathering place for individuals with an interest in handmade books, papermaking, printmaking, and letterpress. We are pleased to provide space, equipment and technical support for artistic exploration, collaboration and the sharing of knowledge.
On April 1, 2009 BookWorks held it’s first Edible Book Festival raising $550.00 for the Scholarship Fund.
We are currently accepting scholarship applications for workshops held in the studio. The scholarships are available for residents of Asheville and surrounding communities on a first come, first serve basis. Scholarships pay 50% of the total cost of a workshop. If you are interested in applying for the scholarship, click here.
The BookWorks Co-op is a project based initiative for artists and writers who have experience in at least one area of book arts (printmaking, papermaking, letterpress, bookbinding) and are interested in creative independent work as well as collaborating with other artists, designers and writers.

- Membership in a community of artists, designers and writers working in print and the book form in our immediate region and beyond.
The Co-op is currently accepting new members. Members, both near and far, are invited to participate in co-op projects like book and print exchanges, exhibitions, events and regularly held co-op meetings. There is a Co-op community board at BookWorks for posted information, current book arts news, and equipment for sale, events and happenings.
