Studio Rental Fees and Hours
Asheville BookWorks occupies approx. 3500 sq ft of studio space with equipment for hand papermaking, bookbinding, letterpress, printmaking and screenprinting. We also have a darkroom for alternative photo-processes.
Bindery and Darkroom is $15 per hour.
Papermaking*, Print, Letterpress rental is $20 per hour.
*One fee of $10 for Papermaking rental, water usage, per weekend.
Renters can purchase a punch card for 6 hours and receive a 7th hour free. Hourly equipment rental is available during regular business hours, 1 – 5 PM, M – F. (See the BookWorks Co-op page for information about becoming a Co-op Member and receiving discounts & extended hours on studio rental.)
Qualified supervision is available for an additional hourly rate. With supervision, renters can request days and times to rent the studio outside regular business hours, a 4 hour minimum is requested.
Studio rental for artists wishing to work outside regular business hours is $375/month or $225/week. Rentals are for advanced and experienced artists who have been approved to work without backup support.
Studio equipment is not available for rent during class times. Renters supply all their own supplies and materials.

Letterpress Equipment and Rental: Artists wishing to rent press time in the letterpress studio for independent work will have taken two to three letterpress classes at BookWorks, show competent printing skills and knowledge of general press care and maintenance. A type deposit is required in advance and is returned when all type has been distributed and presses are cleaned.

Bindery Equipment and Rental: Renters will have taken at least one binding class at BookWorks and have knowledge of proper use and safety precautions for all cutting equipment. Tabletops must be protected with a cutting mat at all times.
