Printing on Credit Card Machines, Really?

Class Description: Yes, we’ll make small prints,up to 4 x 6”, on old school credit card machines, the ones with the swiping, sliding handle. I’ll show you how to retrofit the machines and convert them into portable printing presses that travel easily. We’ll make several print editions per person, enough to trade with each other and construct a folding paper portfolio to house them. I will provide info to students interested in buying a machine to modify.

Student Materials to bring:

  • Journal for note taking
  • PencilsBall point pen / utrafine point sharpie marker
  • Bone folder
    Ruler
  • Pin tool or awl
  • Lino-cut tools. Optional, only if you have them.
  • Japanese or other thin, lightweight printmaking paper. Optional, only if you have them.

Instructor will provide:

  • Paper for printing
  • Credit Card Machines ready for Printing
  • Ink, Brayers
  • Un-mounted Linoleum
  • Carbon Paper
  • Heavy Paper for portfolio
  • Hand tools
