Letterpress Printing II, Intermediate

Class fee: $395  (includes $25 studio fee for inks, solvents and other supplies needed for printing; also contributes to maintenance of the presses and paper cutters.)
Prerequisite: Letterpress Printing 1 or equivalent

Description: The goal of this class is to increase participant’s familiarity and experience with letterpress printing, and to develop printing skills and techniques. Each student will produce a single signature pamphlet stitched book or a broadside, using a text and theme of their choosing. We will focus on topics such as letterpress project planning, mixing ink, and multiple run registration. We will also explore ways to fine-tune your printing skills through roller height adjustment and tympan packing choices. The final result of this class will be the completion of a full letterpress printed project and development of the skills needed to print independently.
