This is a special class combining monotype printing and encaustic painting.  Encaustic painting and printmaking are closely related and the combination presents a gold mine of potential.  In the first portion of the class, we will make monotypes on thin papers specifically designed for collaging into the transparent wax material. In the second portion of the class will cover many methods of encaustic painting beginning with the basics, including tools and safety, making the encaustic medium and paints, and fusing layers.  From there, we will focus on methods with a printmaking sensibility like incising, transferring, and wax monoprints.  All levels welcome. All materials included.
