February 22, 2011, Tuesday, 10 – 5 PM  new class!
$152 (includes $15 materials fee)

Folded from a single sheet of paper, the origami book is a single signature miniature book with several pages and a flat back spine. Make a dozen of them to fill the little bookcase we’ll also make to create a perfect tiny library. To get our fingers moving, we’ll start with a beautiful 30-piece star, a stellated icosahedron, whose name is more difficult to remember than it is to make! All supplies will be provided.

Please Bring:
A Bone folder (available at BW)
A Cutting mat to work on (available at BW)
Any origami or decorative paper you have on hand and might like to use, Steve will have paper for you to use.

Part 1 of this 4 part series will introduce you to the process of screenprinting, including paper tearing, ink mixing, registration, and printing.  We will discuss several methods of creating stencils to use in conjunction with your screens to create unique prints.  Standard and experimental printing techniques alike with be demonstrated and I encourage you to explore a range of them while printing.  The suggested  theme we will be working with is place.

Series Description: Learn one of the most versatile and home-friendly printmaking techniques around.  Screenprinting requires no dangerous solvents or expensive printing presses.  You will learn how to prepare and create stencils both by hand and through a photochemical process.  In addition to creating hand-rendered imagery, you will learn how to prepare images digitally by way of scanning into and manipulating with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.  We will create repeatable editions and unique singular pieces of art as well.
